This book can be read differently. Despite the fact that the order of chapters, as well as the selection of illustrations for each chapter, are carefully thought out, the reader is not obliged to move in the same sequence. Each work of art tells its own, a separate story, allowing selective reading.
Some readers can follow the established order and pace, gradually revealing for themselves the history of the appearance and use of different colors in art consisting of many episodes. Each chapter is chronologically built, each contains both historical material and examples from contemporary art. General research attitudes can go from chapter to chapter, each time agreeing with what color it is in it.
History of colors, description of artistic practice and technologies of resource support, production and distribution of materials are included in all chapters, as well as information about constantly changing ways to give color metaphysical, symbolic and expressive meanings that are significant for society and for individual individual.
In each chapter there is also its own specific topic and new aspects of analysis arising in the course of its deployment. To make it easier to monitor a complex plot, developing and constantly transforming, works of art in each chapter are located in chronological order
