The history of Russian modernism is considered through the work and philosophical searches of one of the main spokesmen for modernist thought - writer Mark Krinitsky (1874-1952) Archival materials allow us to say that the activities of the now forgotten writer in Soviet conditions were aimed at protecting the basic ideas of modernism, its aesthetic principles from the attacks of those who professed the principles of socialist realism.
Mark Krinitsky is perhaps the only one in Soviet culture who dared to enter into a direct polemic with A.A. Zhdanov, proving not only the ignorance of one of the main ideologists of the Soviet government, but also the possibility of other, artistic and free ideology of creativity from the dictate.
For humanitarian students, teachers, researchers and everyone who is interested in the history of culture of the twentieth century
