The publication proposed to the attention of readers is the first weapons reference book in domestic practice, which gives the scientific and documentary justification of the existing drill samples of cold weapons, which was in service with the Russian Guard, the army and navy in the period of 1700-1881. Also, for the first time in the reference book, a scientific attribution of already known and newly identified weapons of weapons was carried out.
A wide range of weapons presented on the pages of the directory represents the richest funds of domestic and foreign museums: state Hermitage, Vimaivs, GIM, Tula State Museum of Weapons, Museums of the Moscow Kremlin and the Museum of the Polish Army. To identify rare and little -known weapons samples, the authors had to turn to the funds of regional Russian museums located in Vladimir, Dmitrov, Izhevsk, Krasnoyarsk, Kostroma, Omsk, Perm and Chita.
