Tropical geometry is a method of solving problems of complex algebraic geometry at the end of the 20th century, which reduces their elementary combinatorial study of graphs in the material Euclidean plane.
Thanks to a large number of applications, as well as a successful loud name (not related to the essence of the matter), tropical geometry quickly gained great popularity and has been developing rapidly in recent years.
This brochure is a notes of lectures read by the author at the Modern Mathematics school for students and schoolchildren in Dubna in different years. Tropical geometry is considered on the example of the solution to the following task: to find the number of complex curves of a fixed degree on a plane having a given number of double points and passing through a given set of points of the general position.
