All my life I loved animals very much, and as far as I remember, I have always been brought up with some chicks, puppies, hare ...
I liked it when I was greeted at home open mouths, forty, when the gray yellow -fired sparrows did not fly away from the outstretched arm, and the rabbits boldly jumped to my knees.
At sixteen, I entered the circle of young biologists of the zoo. This circle was led by a well -known naturalist and great lover of nature, Peter Alexandrovich Manteifel. He taught us to love animals, to protect and study nature.
Our circle was small and very friendly. We helped ministers to remove cells, feed animals and birds, researchers - to observe animals, recorded their behavior in diaries, weighed animal babies and monitored their growth.
I remember how many and interesting I learned in the zoo: what badges, sables, porcupine are born, how all this young grows, how the habits of animals change ... and what kind of animal babies, starting from a small one, did not have. A little larger than the pelvis of the squirrel and ending with Lionians, Tigers, Wolverine! And how I was delighted when in 1933 I was appointed head of the young zoo youth! And then I had the idea to arrange a special platform in the zoo on which it would be possible not only to raise a healthy and strong young animals, but also to make sure that different animals coexist peacefully with each other.
I have many pleasant memories of those animal babies whom I gave a lot of warmth, love and care. And I guys really want, so that you also meet my pupils and love them.
