Dmitry Narkisovich Mamin was born on October 25, 1852 in the priest"s family. He received a home education, and then studied at the Visim school for workers" children. In 1871, Dmitry moved to Yekaterinburg and began his studies at the Theological School, and later at the Perm Theological Seminary. In1872, he entered the St. Petersburg Medical and Surgical Academy for the Veterinary Department. In 1876, without graduating from the Academy, he switched to the law faculty of St. Petersburg University. At this time, he began to write small stories.
Father died in 1878, and Mamin had to take all the worries about the family. To have life funds and educate brothers and sister, the family moved to Yekaterinburg. Here begins a new period of mother’s literary activity. He studies his native places and publishes in the magazine "Russian Thought" Essays from the Hall life "prospectors" and signs them with the pseudonym "Siberian". Mom quickly becomes famous, in many magazines his Ural essays and stories appear.
On November 15, 1912, Mamin-Sibiryak died in St. Petersburg.
