This book is far from only humorous, to an even greater extent it has a cognitive orientation, turning to the history of Soviet physics in the period of the 1920-1990s. The first 16 sections represent the sixteen largest Soviet physicists: A.A. Abrikosov, V.L. Ginzburg, V.I. Goldansky, A.M. Dykhne, Ya.B. Zeldovich, A.S. Kompanayts, L.D. Landau, M.A. Leontovich, A.B. Mighdal, A.D. Mymish (mechanics and Matfijik), Yu.B. Rummer, A.A. Rukhadze, I.E. Tamm, E.L. Feinberg, in .A.Fok, I.M. Khalatnikov. Their aphorisms and statements, a description of remarkable episodes, non -trivial judgments and situations painting the great era of the heyday of physics in the USSR are given.
In the section "Star Sky", a collection of fragments is collected related to another forty Soviet physicists, containing their statements and /or descriptions of non -trivial situations in a wide range of conditions, from comic to dramatic. The “Special Unit” section tells about the unusual situations that arose at the contacts of physicists with L.P. Beria, who was the NKVD People’s Commissar, and then the chairman of the Special Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on the atomic problem.
This publication is supplemented by an application containing new sections.
