The new book “Soviet Modernism. Brutalism. Postmodernism ”has become the culmination of a comprehensive study of the architecture of Soviet modernism in Ukraine. The authors - architects Alexei Bykov and Evgenia Gubkin - have devoted many years to the study of the international style. In this edition, they explore the uniqueness of modernist projects in all possible forms (from interior design to the planning structure of the city) throughout Ukraine and for three decades. In addition, this publication analyzes the basic concepts and ideas that appear in discussions about late -Soviet architecture, in which the term “brutalism” was still understood as exclusively a Western phenomenon.
