In 1930, in the book Sotskgorod Nikolai Alexandrovich Milyutin put forward his own architectural concept of urban planning and creating new living conditions in accordance with Marxist ideology. But appeals to Western practice and, in particular, calls to decentralization of cities led to the fact that Milyutin involuntarily became an enemy of the Soviet Union that stands on the wing. The book was prohibited a year after publication.
Today, only a few copies of the legendary original publication in Russian have been preserved in the world. The new reprint edition with the commentary of Dmitry Khmelnitsky will allow a wide audience to contact N. Milyutin almost ninety years later. Without a doubt, “Sotsgorod” is one of the few theoretical work on urban planning created in the USSR, who have earned international recognition
