The monograph is dedicated to the work of the outstanding Russian artist of the twentieth century S.M. Romanovich (1894-1968) His art is presented from the early period related to the searches of the Russian art avant -garde and futurism, participating in the creation of the Makovets society in the early 1920s, to the late stage - with its deep interest in biblical topics. A separate chapter is dedicated to Romanovich -monumentalist - an employee of the workshop of monumental painting at the Academy of Architecture of the USSR. The author also analyzes the artist’s literary heritage: essays on the art of painting, memories of M.F. Larionov, teacher and friend Romanovich, and about other masters of the first decades of the twentieth century.
