The fourth volume of the chosen works of L.M. Batkin represents to the reader that part of his creative heritage, where, in addition to research, journalism is widely represented. The book opens the autobiographical narrative of L.M. Batkin "Historian about himself". The second chapter contains articles of historiosophical nature, which analyzes questions about the university of history, about the movement of history to the future, etc. The third chapter returns the reader to the main research topic of the author: Italian revival. A variety of notes of the fourth chapter combine thoughts about the method in the study of culture and analysis of cultural values. In the fifth chapter of "Disputes on the Internet, the author summed up the results of many years of substantial communication on the Internet with colleagues and other participants in the discussions that are interested in the problems of history and culture. In the final section of the book, the author’s impressions are presented in different periods of life regarding the work of Alexander Pushkin, Osip Mandelstam, Andrei Tarkovsky, Yuri Levitansky and others.
