This work is dedicated to one of the least studied phenomena in the Russian verse - Czurera. Despite the fact that all the traditional manual guidelines indicate the need for cesura in some types of verse (in an antique dactilic hexameter or in a six -foot iambic), they most often keep silent about what cesura is or are limited to the reasoning that cesura is “this is“ pause ”or“ breathing stop ”. As a rule, such a definition cannot be put into practice, and, by virtue of this, the history of cesura in the Russian verse is full of ambiguities.
In this work, the theory of Cesura is proposed exclusively on metric criteria - on the structure of texts included in the vast corps of Russian poetry, collected specifically for this study. The main part of the work is the description of how the cesura evolved in a Russian verse, starting from Sillabika of the XVII century and the early Sillabotonics of the XVIII century to a non -classical verse, which begins to actively develop in the 20th century and often addresses various types of cesurdous divisions. Special attention is paid to how the Russian and foreign theory of the verse interpreted the concept of Cesura, and what place it occupied in various versions of the world. This allows you to consider the concept of cesura as one of the central verse theory
