This collection of articles was prepared based on materials of the Russian Art conference on April 10-10, 2021 at Moscow State University. Mimeisis and utopia "and dedicated to the memory of Professor V.S. Turchina.
The subject of mymezis and utopia was chosen as the subject of discussion, which allowed the creation of a tense problem field and analyze the creative strategies that determined the development paths of the Russian art of the New Age and the XX century. If a mymetic approach consists in reproducing the forms and phenomena that already exist in reality (including in the artistic sphere), then the utopian principle involves the escape from it or the creation of a different reality that can be thought of as a kind of guiding star, guiding humanity or individual to the highest The goals, or as a speculative alternative that does not claim to be practical, but gives a chance to at least mentally move away from the prevailing norms. These are the polar points between which the history of world art is concluded, but in real artistic life, mymeisis and utopia can enter into much more complex and diverse relations.
