The first third of the XIX century was marked by the growth of discussions about the place of women in the literature and the boundaries of their permitted participation in the literary process. It will be a certain exaggeration to consider this period the beginning of the formation of the history of writers in Russia, but most of the judgments about the admissibility of women"s literature, which later adopted critics of the 1830–1860s, were first formulated at that time. The goal that Maria Nesterenko sets himself is to analyze how the gradual conventionalization of women"s participation in the literary process in Russia was the first third of the 19th century and how this evolution of views affected the writer"s fate and the reputation of the poetess Anna Petrovna Bunina. For this, the researcher turns to various sources, primarily to the journal periodicals, showing that with the general positive attitude of the Karamzinists to the cultural mission of the enlightened noblewomen among them there was no unanimity on this issue. Maria Nesterenko is a philologist, a doctoral officer of the University of Tartu (PhD), a specialist in the work of forgotten writers of the XIX - early XX centuries
