Retaining. From the Apocalypse to conspiracy theories

After the collapse of the Soviet communist ideology, its place began to be quickly filled with a wide variety of explanatory paradigms, but only a few of them acquired real public significance. One of the most important is the theory of conspiracy, which has high mass demand and meets well the queries of the rise wave of populism. The book discusses the history of Western conspiracyology, analyzes approaches to its study and understanding, studies the history of conspiracyology in Russia and gives an overview of its diverse modern manifestations. Conspirological representations in the right and left circles, in the religious environment, in the media, in the scientific world, in power structures, in the field of mass culture are studied. The hybrid eclectic nature of the theory of conspiracy is shown, combining geopolitics, Christian eschatology and esotericism with Soviet heritage in various combinations. But the core of this design is Orthodox apocalyptic ideas about the last times and the role of the holding in which Russia acts.
