The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord (1714) is one of the most famous monuments of wooden architecture not only in Russia, but also in the world. As part of the Kizh architectural ensemble in 1990, she took a worthy place in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Built on the verge of a possible and impossible, organic combination of carpentry, engineering and architectural genius, the twenty -two -headed church became the embodiment of the North Russian construction culture and folk aesthetics.
