"Refined knowledge". Study of marginal religiosity in the XX and beginning of the XXI century

In the 20th century, the so -called "marginal religiosity", usually called "esoterica" or "occultism", began to actively manifest in culture and attracted the attention of religious scholars, culturalists and historians. Having overcome the skepticism of the academic community, the study of esoteric teachings has become an independent and actively developing field of humanitarian knowledge in recent decades.
The book by P. Nosachev is devoted to the description of the four main scientific approaches to the "renounced knowledge" that formed during this time: New European, American, mystocentric, traditional rationalistic. The author identifies the characteristic features of each direction, explores their genesis and analyzes the work of key figures in detail. Among the heroes of the book are Karl Jung, Mirce Eliade, Francis Yates, Umberto Eco, Hersho Sholem, Vouter Hanigraf, Koku von Stucrad, Arthur Verpereyos, Jeffrey Kripl and other researchers. A special place in the monograph is given to the cultural and historical context of research of marginal religiosity.
