The book includes work, thematically combined in four sections. Its organizing center is observation of the realities of Old Russian book culture. A special section is formed by articles that discuss the problems of the reception of literature of the XI-XVII centuries. In the new time. A number of materials are devoted to comparative literary criticism. The interaction of the word and image is another area of the study reflected in the articles included in the collection. When analyzing texts, attention is paid to the historical aspects of works of various eras, the achievements of disciplines, called auxiliary in relation to philology and history, are taken into account.
