Vladimir (Valdemar) Vasilievich Gippius (1876-1941) - Russian poet of the Silver Age, literary critic, second cousin of the poetess Z. N. Gippius. He studied at the gymnasium with A. Dobrolyubov, with him he began the literary field, having known as one of the first decadents in Russia. He taught literature in the gymnasium Stoyanin, the first St. Petersburg gymnasium and the Tenishevsky school, where among his students were O. E. Mandelstam and V.V. Nabokov. He took part in the meetings of the "workshop of poets". He died in 1941 during the blockade of Leningrad from hunger.
