Lydia Ginzburg (1902-1990) is an author whose innovation and place in the literary landscape of the twentieth century are still not appreciated. An outstanding philologist, the author of fundamental works on Russian literature, L. Ginzburg gained worldwide fame thanks to the "notes of the besieged person". However, she considered prose texts written on the table and practically not published during her lifetime as her main achievement. The task that the ginzburg prose -prose sets itself is to create a type of writing adequate to the catastrophic XX century and the new historical subject, which ended up in a situation of the collapse of previous individualistic and humanistic values. The study, which was the result of a decade work in the archive of L. Ginzburg, examines previously unknown manuscripts and new valuable information about her life is given.
The author in detail analyzes the intellectual project L. Ginzburg, who does not fit into traditional genre conventions and the erosion of the boundaries between history, autobiography and artistic letter. The project, in the center of which is the main question of the 20th century: "How to survive without losing the image of the human."
