Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, by the definition of Ivan Turgenev, "The most Russian man of his time", tried in vain to visit abroad all his life. At first he wanted to see the world as a traveler or diplomat, then he made plans to flee from Russia secretly. Who or what prevented him from realizing at least one of his attempts: king? secret police? A sense of duty to the Fatherland? Women he loved? money? Own character? fear? And most importantly - Pushkin wanted to just go abroad and return or was going to leave forever, that is, to emigrate? These questions are asked by a writer, a literature historian and journalist Yuri Druzhnikov in his book "Prisoner of Russia". Roman -study "Prisoner of Russia", based on the thorough study of Pushkin’s work, his correspondence, memoirs of contemporaries and world guns in general, are the result of the twenty -year work of Yuri Druzhnikov. Historical chronicles, forming the Trilogy "Exile of the unauthorized", "Feature Dossier", "Death of the Outlook", reveal the image of the great Russian poet in an unexpected perspective. This is a novel about the struggle of the writer with the state for the right to look at the world with his own eyes
