The production of Princess Brahmbill, according to Hoffmann"s fairy tale, at the Chamber Theater, Alexander Tairov called the "Capricchio" - whim, fantasy. This performance, full of miracles and transformations, became a sensation in the starry and cold Moscow of 1920. The feast of colors in the scenery and costumes of George Yakulov, the dynamics of action and the extraordinary skill of the actors stunned the audience. The great director’s dream of the sight, connecting on the stage, the possibilities of all arts - music and painting, words and dance, pantomime and acrobatics - raised the level of theatrical skill to a new height and went down in history forever.
The book was first published in the Hoffmann played by Tairov, including the fairy tale about the sad king and the laughing queen that did not enter the performance. Illustrations are sketches of Yakulov, as well as photographs of the scenes of the performance and the main characters
