The book introduces the reader to the works of self -taught, naive artists and lovers, opens up a number of new facts and expands the idea of the existence of a primitive in the Soviet period. The author considers the interaction of self-taught and professionals in the framework of specially created creative associations, mainly in the 1920-1930s, when the formation of a system of visual amateur performances took place. The element of folk art crafts and loves was clamped by a narrow grip of official art. The creation of specialized institutions engaged in the search and training of amateurs, becoming part of the state program of art education in the USSR, made the situation unique. The publication will be interesting not only to art critics, teachers and students of art universities, but also to a wide circle of readers interested in the history of Soviet art.
