Readers are proposed to the book of a famous domestic physicist and popularizer of science O.D. Khwolson (1852-1934), containing its popular lectures on electricity and magnetism. The simplest electrical phenomena, the distribution of electricity on the conductions, and electricity sources are considered. The electric energy, electrical resistance, current strength, the physiological, thermal and chemical actions of the current, as well as the interaction of currents, are described. The phenomenon of electromagnetic induction is disassembled. The basic laws (OMA Law, the Law of Joule --- Lenz, etc) and their applications are presented, a description of basic experiments is presented. Much attention in the book is paid to the consideration of various forms of application of the doctrine of electromagnetism --- starting from incandescent lamps to telegraph and telephone.
A book written more than a hundred years ago (the first edition was published in 1886) will be interesting to both physics historians and everyone who wants to get acquainted with the basic concepts of electricity doctrine
