This book is the first generalizing study dedicated to the Pokrovskoye -Streshnevo estate and adjacent territories. The author, using an extensive array of sources and literature, traces the history of the estate, owners of which were representatives of the noble family of Streshnev, who played an important role in the formation of Russian statehood in the XVII-XVIII centuries.
The author pays much attention to a change in the appearance and interiors of the estate from the moment of its founding to date, including lost parts, as well as the restoration work carried out in the estate in the 20th century. The book considers the history of the lost Pavilion Elizabetino, the building of the station of the Pokrovskoye -Streshnevo station on the Vindavsky railway, tells about well -known figures of literature and art, whose destinies were associated with the estate - this is S. A. Bers (Tolstaya), S. M. and V. S. Solovyov, V. B. Shklovsky and others.
The book is extensive illustrated, many photographs were taken by the author throughout the 2010s. Rare illustrations were used, including from the personal archives of restorers who worked in the estate in the 1980-1990s.
The book will be interesting to both cultural specialists and all lovers of the history and culture of Russia, especially the Muscovites of the surrounding areas living near the unique estate
