Alexander Nikolaevich Afanasyev (1826-1871) - historian and folklorist, publisher of `folk Russian fairy tales`, researcher of Slavic traditions, beliefs and customs. The result of these works: `Poetic views of the Slavs to nature` (3 volumes 1865-1869), dedicated to the historical and philological analysis of the language and folklore of the Slavs in connection with the language and folklore of other Indo-European peoples. His work is still not surpassed in the world science of folklore. This publication consistently reproduces all three volumes of poetic views that came out during the life of the author. They are transferred to a new spelling with some preservation of the features of the old spelling in order to make the taste and aroma of verbal turns of the bygone era. For linguists, folklorists, ethnographers, cultural historians, as well as everyone who is interested in the connections between language and culture, features of ethnic pictures of the world.
