The monograph is introduced into scientific circulation materials of the Fedorov excavation, one of the largest excavations of Novgorod.
A significant section of the territory of the ancient Plotnitsky end was investigated on the excavation on the southern shore of the now covered Fedorovsky stream, the remnants of street flooring of two medieval streets - Slavkova and Korzheva, as well as the reclining complexes of 8 estates with more than 160 structures of the XI -XIV centuries. More than 6,600 individual finds were discovered, including: birch bark letters of the XI-XIV centuries, lead alphabet ser. XII century. Wooden cylinder of the XI century. With the inscription, the stone foundry of the XIII century. with the image of a warrior and the name of the master of the foundry, a complex of finds of Byzantine origin of the XI-XII centuries.
The excavation materials gave important information, which allows us to approach some problems of the history of medieval Novgorod, in particular, to the issue of the time of the formation of a carpentry end, the dynamics of its development, the boundaries and the social composition of the population
