The book includes selected articles published in periodicals in 2001-2016. All of them are devoted to Russian literature (mainly poetry) of the XX -XXI centuries - from Osip Mandelstam and Daniil Harms to Elena Schwartz and Alexander Mironov and modern young authors. Much attention is paid to the heritage of the Leningrad underground of the 1960-1980s. The author is not trying to pass himself for either an academic scientist or a neutral expert, while he does not want to be an irresponsible "impressionist": he is not only interested in the intellectual and emotional reality standing behind the text, but also by literary technology. First of all, in the center of his attention is the creative personality of each author, his individual path and language. Valery Shubinsky (b. 1965) - poet, critic, historian of literature, author of biographies D. Harms, N. Gumilyov, V. Radsevich and others.
