The texts of lectures, reports and performances of an outstanding domestic scientist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, honorary doctor of St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise V. S. Stepin are published.
The book is a wide picture of the most important research, ideas, concepts, the results of the development of science, united by the scientific view of the philosopher on the world of nature, culture, the world of society and man. These are the author’s thoughts that modern global crises generated by technogenic civilization require a revision of the previous strategies for its development. The collection includes the materials of the book "Civilization and Culture" published by the University (2011), the works of different years dedicated to the concepts of human activity and culture, as well as an interview with an academician, where the connections between ideas and changes in a social situation, in which generation of the great ones worked, are emphasized scientists - his contemporaries.
