Book of dialogs - A.V./Z.A. - "Paraautopia" grew out of the interview and conversations of the outstanding Russian director and theorist of the theater Anatoly Vasiliev with Kinovist and film critic Zara Abdullaeva. It is part of it are articles jointly prepared and published in the journal "Art of Cinema". Another part is the author’s texts of Anatoly Vasiliev and Zara Abdullaeva. This publication is a unique event for the entire Russian reading public, in a sense it is a "portrait of the artist in the frame of the era": the book includes theoretical experiments, biographical sketches, articles on theater and cinema, archival notes of rehearsals, artistic, poetic fragments .. . Parautopia - as a desire for a distant, obviously unattainable ideal, as a way to communicate with this ideal, as a technique of building it in the theater, cinema and literature. Even in the purely theoretical constructions of Vasiliev, here we always notice the real chills of creative effort, creative passion. A remarkably wide range of names and problems that removes us from Pirandello and Chekhov - through Lars von Trier and Fellini - to Grotovsky and Stanislavsky. The book is addressed not only to theaters or the theater public, who was not tired of loving Vasiliev, it will be important for philosophers and culturalists, theorists of cinema and analysts of humanitarian knowledge
