The book was written by the famous historian of the dramatic and ballet theater, writer-expert V. M. Gayevsky. The first half of the book is given to two historical and ballet research, one of which is dedicated to the Giselle ballet, and the other to its authors, Korall, Perrault and mainly Marius Petipa. The second half of the book is devoted to the most important events in the ballet and the Drama Theater of Moscow, Leningrad and Paris, which happened a hundred years after the creation of Giselle. The theme of otherworldly meetings, which excited and inspired the great romantic poets of the first half of the 19th century, and in the twentieth century, turned from a poetic-metaphorical into a tragically real one. The last part tells about the books of writers, directly or indirectly, with their life and their work related to this tragic theme
