The monograph discusses the ontological foundations and essential characteristics of a cultural conflict based on its representation in the genre of European drama from antiquity to the 18th century. The research methodology is presented, mating dialectical-heger -utative approach with a single theory of conflict. The author’s concept of cultural conflict is proposed from its fixation and resolution strategies in the genre of European drama. The representativeness of fiction as a whole and the drama genre in particular in understanding the cultural conflict was revealed.
