Reprint from the publication. Voronezh 1901. Public lecture by R.F. Brandt "On the pseudoscience of our spelling", read by the author in a pedagogical society at Moscow University as a report to the department of Russian literature (1899), laid the foundation for an organized movement for reform against “walking spelling”. The author, like his predecessors, showed on the examples the unscientific and inconsistency of the existing spelling "on the grotto".
