Leonid Nikolaevich Andreev (1871–1919) - Russian writer, representative of the Silver Age of Russian Literature.
The story “Bargamat and Garazka” (1898) is the literary debut of Andreev. It was after the publication of this work to the writer that Maxim Gorky drew attention to the writer. And a few months later, Gorky asked the young writer to send a “good story” for a popular literary magazine.
So the story of L. Andreev “Petka in the country” (1899) was released. The hard life of a little Petka, an assistant hairdresser, has changed incredibly when he got to the Lord’s cottage in Tsaritsyno.
Crubyan and bully Sashka - the hero of the story “Angel” (1899) is transforming, seeing an angel’s wax figure on the Christmas tree. Later, impressed by this story, A. Blok will write the poem “Susal Angel”.
The story “Kusaka” (1901) is the story of a lonely, living on the street of dogs. In her life, she met only evil and cruel people. Fear and anger have been diligent in the heart of the animal for a long time.
Andreev’s prose is piercing and alarming. It amazes, makes you think, makes each person a little different.
The book also included two novels by the writers “The Life of Vasily Fiveo” (1903) and “Judas Iskariot” (1907)
