In the life of Nikolai Gumilyov there were three main affairs: poetry, Africa and war. These classes are inextricably intertwined in his fate and work. He visited Ethiopia three times, once made a half -year trip to this distant country with scientific purposes on the instructions of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Many poetic and prosaic works of one of the most striking representatives of the Silver Age of Russian poetry are inspired by the impressions received during travels in the African continent.
