To acquaint children with masterpieces of classical literature is necessary from an early age. The textbook includes fragments and complete texts of the prose of A. M. Gorky, A.P. Chekhov, K. G. Paustovsky, V. G. Korolenko, L. N. Tolstoy, I. S. Turgenev, M. A. Sholokhov, I. A. Goncharova, V.P. Kataeva, poetry of A. S. Pushkin, M. Yu. Lermontov, F. I. Tyutchev, A. V. Koltsov, N. A. Nekrasov, Basen I. A. Krylova. Also, Russian folk tales, myths of ancient Greece, epics, proverbs, sayings and riddles are given for familiarization. In addition, much attention is paid to the memories of the life of classics - Pushkin, Turgenev, Nekrasov.
The textbook is built in such a way that students can obtain systematized knowledge about different periods of Russian literature and the concepts related to it (comparisons, metaphors, epithets)
