Priscilla Meyer shows how the first English -speaking Roman Nabokov sheds light on all his subsequent work. The connections between Nabokov characters and the previous tradition of Russian, English and American literature and philosophy are revealed. Nabokov uses roll calls between numerous subtexts to consider the main problem that interests him: to continue the existence of the soul after the death of the body. All the work of Nabokov is subordinated to the desire for inaccessible knowledge of another world, and, since this desire is endlessly, the writer"s novels do not have a plot or thematic conclusion, do not have a denouement. The non -contribution of everything is their common hidden topic
