This publication included the fundamental work of the famous German orientalist, Heinrich Zimmer (1890-1943), comrade-in-arms K.G. Yung and R. Wilhelm, one of the teachers of D. Kempbell. Based on the significant material of his own research, Zimmer traces the connection and mutual influence of ancient Indian philosophy, mythology, religious history and symbols of Indian fine art, recreating the integral picture of Indian culture.
