The Museum of the History of Cosmonautics is the first museum in the country dedicated to the space industry. It was opened in 1967 in Kaluga, a city where Konstantin Tsiolkovsky spent the most fruitful part of his life. The team of architect Boris Barkhin created a metaphor project, which not only gave an association with the cosmos, but also revealed the history of the place. From the moment the museum was established to this day, much has changed: the collection has increased many times, generations of researchers and architects have changed, a new museum corps has grown in the thickness of the slope. Despite all kinds of changes, the strength of the architectural plan and its embodiment are still convincing
