The book "Moscow Lions" is the first study dedicated to the theme of Lviv in the sculptural decoration of Moscow of the 17th and early XX centuries.
For the first time, the circle of monuments containing the sculptural images of Lviv was identified in it, the history of this topic in the sculpture of Moscow of the indicated period was highlighted, information and bibliographic material about each monument and the memories of Muscovites about them were collected. Monuments with sculptural images of lions, which are currently lost due to various circumstances, are also represented here.
In the book, the names of such famous architects as Domenico Zhilardi, Osip Bow, Mikhail Bykovsky, Lev Kekushev, Alexei Shchusev, as well as sculptors were consecrated in the book, among whom, first of all, Santino Campioni and Nikolai Andreev should be called.
numerous photo illustrations, most of which were performed specifically for this publication, are works of the art of photography and make up a wonderful gallery of "portraits" of Moscow Lviv, first collected in such a wide composition.
The book gives the addresses of all the described monuments, so it can serve as a guide for those who want to go through the streets of Moscow, to visit its parks to see the preserved sculptures.
