The content of the textbooks is built taking into account the requirements for the educational results of studying mathematics in primary school - personal, meta -subject and subject. The textbook is focused on the development of the child’s ability to act not according to the model, but independently, to look for new ways of solving, to invent his own funds to achieve the goal. During the construction of elementary graphic and iconic models, children reveal the basic properties of mathematical relations and thus enter the world of mathematical concepts. The textbook consistently realizes the goal of a clear understanding of the actual number. The number (so far only natural) is immediately considered as the ratio of quantities. A large place is given to the study of the properties of quantities in actions with specific objects and abstract models. The computing sections are represented by a separate block at the end of the textbook. In the fourth grade, based on the studied properties, algorithms of actions with multi -valued numbers are built. In addition to relations connecting homogeneous quantities (equality, more - less - diverse attitude, ratio of multiplicity and attitude of the “whole and parts”), four -graders study the connection between the values ​​of various kinds - a direct proportional dependence of the values. As a special case of proportional dependence, the dependence of the area of ​​the rectangle on its length with constant width is considered. The last theme of the course is devoted to acquaintance with ordinary fractions and is optional. Work with text tasks continues. Training occurs through the organization of search actions of children and a detailed discussion in the classroom. The methodological apparatus of the textbook contains a large number of exercises that have a diverse and often entertaining form. Many of them have a "trap" - at first glance, the task is common, but in fact either not having a solution, or making different solutions, or requiring clarification. On the fields of the textbook, such tasks are marked with a special sign. A significant part of the tasks in the textbook is built in such a way that, performing certain constructions, students come to the opening of the logical links of the subject, and do not receive them in the form of ready -made samples.
