The first large-scale study of the work of the outstanding Italian sculptor Marino Marini (1901-1980) in Russian is based on materials from the artist’s archive and museums. The life and work of the master is inextricably linked with the main trends in European art of the twentieth century. Having formed under the influence of the Parisian school, futurism, metaphysical painting and "new classicism", the artist throughout the whole creative path did not lose his connection with the heritage of Italian art. After the fall of the fascist regime, like many of his compatriots, Marino Marini was captured by modernist trends in art. The artist’s heritage is considered as part of European plasticity within the framework of several leading Marini for Marino and genres.
