During the Second World War, the Nazis launched a well -established robbery industry in occupied Europe. The technologies for leaching of artistic values, running up to Jewish artists and collectors of Germany and Austria, were then a wide, truly industrial scale were used on a continent scale.
However, the devastation of European museums and galleries, the destruction of cultural monuments was not ordinary robbery and vandalism: these actions had the most important ideological and political connotation.
