In the imperial theaters of St. Petersburg and Moscow at the end of the 19th century, electric lighting appeared in a short period. The history of its creation is very individual for different theaters and is almost forgotten today. The book makes an attempt to recreate it again on the basis of archival documents, dissertations, publications of the 19th century. Attention is paid to various projects, including unrealized ones, as well as their performers and the historical background on which the events described took place. The book is illustrated by archival drawings, photographs and drawings
