This textbook is intended for students of children"s music schools and art schools studying the subject “Musical literature” for the 2nd year. The manual is fully consistent with the course program. It includes information about the main directions of Western European music of the XVIII - XIX centuries - baroque, classicism, romanticism, leading musical genres and forms associated with these eras, as well as the biographies of outstanding composers - I.S. Bach, J. Haydna, V. Mozart, L. Beethoven, F. Schubert, F. Chopin and analysis of their most famous works.
The fundamental theoretical concepts of the course of musical literature of foreign countries-Polyphonia, the main genres of Viennese classics, “Symphony cycle”, “Sonate form”-are highlighted in a book in separate paragraphs.
The educational material of the manual is set out in a fairly short and accessible form for children and is compiled in such a way that the student can independently use it when performing homework
