The monograph is dedicated to the three Leningrad artists representing the generation of peers of the twentieth century - Solomon Gershov, Gabriel Glickman, Felix Lember. By the Ukrainian of the 1960s, the work of these artists - realists by education and beliefs - bring together the general features of the problems and language, which is defined here as a kind of expressionism. Expressionism is not as a style or method - as an intention to the rebellious spirit of freedom, set by the city itself on the Neva , a sense of anxiety and an outrageous draft, which does not allow to be forgotten in a thorough, "tasty", picturesque hedonism, a piercing feeling of human, a person - a small, absurd, courageous and heroic. Expressionism as “the very poetics of art, always remaining an outsider in a large cultural space, always experiencing its marginality as its own language of art.” The subject of the study was the vast collections of artists in St. Petersburg, Munich and Boston, works from museum meetings, as well as archival sources
