The collection of "Legends, Tales and Myths" is an unexpected view of the work of N. Leskov. The proposed book is composed of the Christological, mystical works of the writer, fulfilling the task of "human teaching" and resurrect the canons of early Christianity. They were rarely reprinted and have not yet received a proper assessment of literature and reader historians. There are echoes of ancient Russian “walks", and the legends about miraculous icons, and reviews, and stories-alleges. The author appears as a singer of universal harmony and the world, telling about such the best manifestations of a Christian as straightforwardness, fearlessness, aggravated conscientiousness, inability to reconcile with evil, righteousness, compassion and love. Contemporaries highly appreciated Leskov as an unsurpassed connoisseur of Russian characters and psychology, Fedor Dostoevsky dubbed his creative gift with “worldwide responsiveness”, and Igor Severyanin already proclaimed Leskov with a “naked genius”
