A direct descendant of the Decembrist I. Yakushkin, Doctor of Physics and Mathematical Sciences I.G. Yakushkin in his lectures sets out his own view of the history of social life and culture of Russia, based on the historical and historical and literary works of his great-grandfather V.E. Yakushkin, materials of the family archive and family tradition.
The author suggests that the point of view on the history of Russian public life and culture is of interest to the reader as a starting point for further reading and reflection. One of the topics raised in the work is the topic of social life as a social partnership, which is an alternative to social struggle. Social partnership was especially manifested at the end of the 18th century, in the era of Nikolai Novikov, in the work of zemstvo and city institutions created by the reforms of the 1860s, in the activities of philanthropists and philanthropists at the turn of the 20th century. Alas, neither in pre -revolutionary Russia, nor later partnerships between the authorities and society, it did not arise, which led to many tragic consequences.
The book is addressed to a wide range of readers, primarily youth
