How did the 1917 revolution affect the tradition of teaching history in higher education? How did the higher historical education develop in the first Soviet decades and who stood at its origins? How was the educational process built and how did Soviet students study? These and other interesting issues are revealed by the author on the materials of a unique source - lecture abstract of the Institute of Red Professor Sergei Nikiforovich Kruglov for the 1935/36 academic year. Records of lecture courses on the history of "pre -capitalist formations" (read by V.V. Struve, V.S. Sergeyev, E.A. Kosminsky, S.V. Bakhrushin, P.S. Drozdov and S.A. Piontkovsky) contain curious interpretations Historical events from ancient times until 1730, historiographical and didactic narrative is inseparable from the study of specific circumstances of the dialogue in the educational audience of the 30s. Based on the synchronous paperwork, the author reconstruct the features of the organization of the educational process at the Institute of Red Professors, the specifics of the interaction of students and teachers are characterized, the experience of the practical implementation of one of the state projects to update the scientific and pedagogical sphere is analyzed.
