Lace History as a cultural text

This is the first book in Russian, in which the history of lace has traced since ancient times. Lace is considered not only as one of the most attractive types of textiles, but also as a component of the costume, but in the aggregate of a variety of cultural components, it is a certain code indicating the sexual and ethnocultural identification of the individual, its status, property, professional position, denomination and aesthetic representations . The book affects various aspects: the spread of early lace -like forms and the displacement of handmade work, identifying imitations and falsifications of popular types of Russian and Western European lace. Particular attention is paid to the issues of collecting lace, methods of its attribution and evaluation.
